Our Story

We established the process of Seed Taping as a service for growers in 1999. With the aim of providing an alternative method of direct seeding with precision placement of seed at preferred intervals placed on a tape and tied into a string.

The planters we produce are complimentary, allowing for one and or multiple lines of seeded tape to be dispensed with depth control.

The result is multifold:

    Direct seeding.

    Controlled spacing between plants.

    Controlled planting depth.

Uniform water contact to the seed.

Uniform crop emergence, stand and shape.

    Improved yield.

    Reduced seed usage.

    Reduced thinning.

Since launching our seed taping service, the process has been well received by many growers. The grow out yield and cost comparisons to many other methods have proven beneficial.

Our process is both feasible and affordable for small to medium size farms. Uniquely, since the spacing between seeds can be adjusted for seasonal and seed germination considerations, farmers have achieve higher yields and quality produce.

Our customers are mainly, vegetable and flowers growers. We also assist agronomist in their seed research trial work and farm field day planting.

We have modified our process over the years allowing taping of microscopic seeds and very large seeds with precision. The farming community of Australia have been very supportive in using and development, guiding us with many of the improvements required.

Our main tape HYDRO tape is water-soluble and dissolves in minutes when in contact with moisture.  For organic growers we provide a PAPER tape, which is biodegradable, it takes several days to disintegrate depending on the moisture applied and bio-activity of the soil. We also have a pure COTTON tape for use in specialty applications, ie; slow germinating seeds, for cold winter months, as a pre-germination method with heat by boiling etc.

We make many types of PLANTERS to deposit the tape, hand and tractor models.

We make several SPOOL sizes to suit the order requirement.  Typically  flower growers and research agronomist grow very small lots of plants, so we have smaller spools, whereas vegetable farmers grow larger lots of plants which require larger spools.

We explain the tapes, planters and spools in the next sections.
